Transcript: 5 Reasons I Chose to Go Freelance After 13 Years in Marketing
Hello, it's me, Cara. I thought I would take the chance to tell you five reasons why I took the leap after 13 years in marketing to become a freelance CRM and email marketing consultant. Reason 1: I get more control over my client relationships.
It means I can genuinely connected the client from the get go and figure out exactly what the problem is and we can come up with some solutions together. That sets the path to success from the very start, rather than relying on a salesperson to pitch in a product and then eventually, after many conversations, it then comes to me as the specialist to deliver. And I haven't been a part of those conversations and I haven't been able to provide that consultation that actually is needed right up front.
Reason 2: I believe CRM is a huge untapped marketing strategy for many brands.
People might think that it's too complicated, too technical and possibly even too expensive. None of those things are true and actually we can start off very simple and that can still be highly effective.
Reason 3: Email marketing needs a champion!
I love how personal email is, I love that you can be really creative with it, and I love that the results are pretty much instantaneous. For some reason email is seen as a bit of an underdog. Some of the more glitzy channels get the attention, so I'm out here being a champion for email marketing.
Reason 4: Marketing can be full of noise and nonsense.
I'm on a mission to keep things simple, to avoid jargan, to keep things human, and to encourage everyone to ask questions. I don't want anyone to feel alienated and I just want them to see the value of having a good marketing strategy.
Reason 5: I want to work life balance.
If I'm not on the clock, you'll find me out in the countryside or on the beach with my dog, not waiting for 5:30pm to roll around because that's what my contract states I must do.
So if you want to chat, email or CRM, drop me a message. I'd absolutely love to hear from you and see if I can help you out!
